Feeding the World Sustainably through partnership on science, technology and innovation
1. The ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Week (ASTIW) is a flagship
triennially event of the ASEAN Committee of Science, Technology and Innovation
(COSTI) which started in 1986, as a regional gathering of stakeholders to
exchange their knowledge and achievements in using science and technology for development and also for interaction to form collaboration and partnership.
The 11th ASTIW will be held in Thailand in 2020 in the midst of convergence of technologies and innovations driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), the growing world population which is projected by United Nations to grow from
currently 7.7 billon (July 2019 UN estimate) to 9.7 billion by 2050, and the impact from climate change.
Hence, the 11th ASTIW is envisioned to spur(encourage) the regional efforts for concerted actions by public and private in enhancing the science, technology and
innovation (STI) ecosystem for the agriculture industry.
